Speaker 1:Hello friends, and welcome to another solo cast. And it's summertime. It is summer. I am so excited. Kate. Are you excited for summer? I mean we are. We are so excited for a hot mess. Summer Cannot wait to get out into the streets and see what the businesses are popping and what people are doing popping and what people are doing. Kate's going to come with me on some of those little adventures. Lemonade Stand is upon us. We did one last year and we're going to actually do more than one this year, which is we'll talk about later and my business consulting is starting to snowball and what I've been building behind the scenes is starting to sort of take shape, and I am so, is starting to sort of take shape and I am so fucking jacked. So my goal, my goal for these solo casts, is to talk very specifically around some of these business questions that I get a lot, but I know for people out there who are really trying to figure out what they want to do in life, especially in business. I want to get right in there with you and do whatever I can to help add value and sort of go back into my treasure chest of wisdom and experience and help in any way that I can. And from those of you who are new here if you're new here and you don't know anything about me other than, who is this wild podcast host and why is she talking to me about business.
Speaker 1:Let me just give you a tiny little background. Back in the day, when I was about five or six I mean I was we big I was always, always into business. So I wasn't into dolls, I wasn't into all the regular bullshit. I wanted, wanted a desk paper, a fake phone, and I would talk to fake people and I would do business. I have a picture that I'm going to maybe put up I'll give it to you, kate, and it's of me when I was six years old, in front of the Christmas tree with a desk, a phone, talking to fake people. So business, you could say, is sort of in my DNA. It's like people do things for fun. They ride bikes, they play tennis. I like to think and figure out how to create business. Something might be wrong, I have no idea, but anyway I do have.
Speaker 1:Also, along with just fantasizing and being a kid who liked to play business, I ended up jumping into corporate America right after college at Ohio State and I went into IT sales and I did really well there. I loved the sales game and I've learned so much about business from being in sales. I was in that game for a long time. I was promoted to sales director at AT&T, ran a couple of teams, a 90 plus million dollar book of business loved it. Jumped out of that into the entrepreneurial space to build a fitness brand with my partner and I've spent the last 10 years building that and recently sold my interest to pursue what I'm doing now, which is helping you build your business, helping you get out of the space that you're in. That I like to call the current space like the current version of you and trying to catapult you into the ideal space or the ideal version of you. So current version, ideal version, and there's a bridge in between those two things that you can walk over, crawl over, hop over, but you absolutely can get there. I'm not going to say it's going to be easy, it's not going to be linear, but it's there. Your ideal version of you and your ideal version of life awaits. And guess who's going to get you there? Not your inner circle, not your uncle Tom, not your dad, not your mom, you. It's all about you and how you can get inside your brain that is completely filled with self-doubt, questions, confusion, overwhelm. But then you also have this thing. You're like I know I I have a purpose, I know I have something to say. How do I get it out? How do I get it out? And I just might be able to help you do that.
Speaker 1:If you've been following along the show and my social media, you may have been seeing this new person pop up. Her name is Megan Goodman. So Megan Goodman is actually the prototype for this business that I'm building. Currently Megan is doing this business, consulting, mindset, consulting with me right now, real time. And part of this process that I am creating is, if you want, if you're the type of person who wants to have the exposure, who wants to sort of be held accountable, we can actually real time show your progress, kind of shoot a fire hose to you and then you walk away with that information. It's not about that. It's about putting the training wheels on and actually doing on the job training. So I don't know, I don't know if there's anything like that out there. I'm sure there is somewhere, but I certainly haven't seen it, not at least in the way that I'm doing it. So I'm very, very excited.
Speaker 1:So this particular solo cast is for the one who knows they're meant for more. It's the person who's quietly bursting with potential but feeling isolated, uncertain and low key, afraid, and that's probably most people who really haven't set sail yet, who are still in their own head. You know, you have a lot of different feelings and thoughts and it's really hard sometimes to get that good stuff out of your head and into the world. But you need to do it. It's a disservice, I mean. Could you imagine at the end of your life what a miss that would be that you weren't able to sort of mine for that and get it out of there and out into the world for the people who need it? I feel like man, we have to do it. It's not if it's when.
Speaker 1:So consider this particular solo cast just like a no bullshit guide that will combine like a pep talk from your ride or die and a game plan from your business savvy mentor. So it's like a little mix of things. So you've got something and you feel it, and yet you're standing on the edge overthinking the jump because you don't know where you'll land. So let's fix that. I've got a couple things here that I want you to stop doing. Stop doing this shit. It's not helpful, it's not going to get you where you want to go. So today we stop doing it. Number one, and this is a huge one, and we all do it, and I felt myself for so long doing this, and when I finally figured out how to stop doing this, it saved me so much energy, time and it just feels so much better.
Speaker 1:Stop trying to convince people who don't share your vision. Stop trying to convince people who don't share your vision. And it's not because they're a bad person, it's not because they're an asshole they might be, most people are. It's not because they're an asshole they don't understand what you're doing, and that's part of the beauty of creating something, the beauty of manifesting and creating something that's from your soul, from you. Nobody understands it because it's not out there yet, but yet we want to go to this inner circle of people who we love and we trust, and we want to dump all this information on them and we expect them to stand up and be like oh, eureka, this is what I've been waiting for. This is the best idea in the world. They're not going to do that, and there's a couple of reasons why they may not do that. A they just don't understand. It's like speaking a different language to somebody. B they are assholes no-transcript.
Speaker 1:So you have to look for those signs as well. It could be A and B. You don't need a permission slip. You don't need other people to clap for you in the beginning, and their lack of understanding says nothing about your potential. It just means they're not the ones that can help you fly.
Speaker 1:If you're at this point and this is resonating with you you're pretty early on in this game. This is a crucial thing. You have got to ferret out. You've got to figure this out. It's enough for you to clap for yourself for a really long time. It's enough for you to keep your ideas in, or maybe just away from, your inner circle. What I recommend to you, if you are experiencing this right now go look and find a short list of human beings who have done something similar to what you aspire to do, and I don't care if you don't know them, you probably don't know them. Make a list of those people, reach out and see if maybe one or two of them will give you some time, because then, and only then, will you sit down with someone who speaks the language that you're trying to speak and that will give you so much confidence and clarity, and that's really the road that you want to walk down. Keep your inner circle for other stuff, unless you have someone in that circle that can understand this.

Headspace by Mia Santiago because great hair days shouldn't be rare.
Speaker 1:Number two stop waiting until it's perfect. Why do we continue to do this? I don't know how many Instagram reels, how many people, how many conversations I've had to have about perfection. It's like we all understand and we know that there is no perfect, but yet we still strive for perfection. This game is going to be so messy. There is nothing perfect about it, so stop waiting for it to be perfect.
Speaker 1:Perfection is a trap. It's the universe's design to keep people back from succeeding and I, I, a thousand percent believe that there is survival of the fittest in everything, and business is included in that. So the universe designs it. It's like oh okay, how many people can we keep back because they have to wait for the perfect time. Only so many people are going to make it to the finish line, so don't let that be what keeps you back. It's a trap, and clarity comes from action, not from endless planning. Start messy and real, and that's how you're going to get where you want to go. I mean, are you the person out there who literally has like a hundred documents? You have Excel spreadsheets and you have. You have Word documents and they're all perfect and the T's are perfectly crossed and the I's are perfectly crossed and the I's are perfectly dotted. I mean, you have planned and planned and plotted Congratulations. You still haven't taken the first step, okay, so I would take somebody any day of the week who's ready to go and who has the balls to execute than someone who's really good at making a spreadsheet. Okay. So just perfection. It's a complete mirage.
Speaker 1:Number three stop outsourcing your confidence, and this one sort of circles back to number one, where we feel like we can only move when somebody else validates us. You're handing them your power. When you do that. Build your self-trust like it's your job, because it is, again, the only person you need at the beginning of this process to validate you is you, and it sounds so simple, but it's also so complex. When you're alone and you're the only one clapping and the only one knowing what's going on, it really is easy to sort of second, third, fourth and fifth guess yourself like am I crazy? Like what am I even doing here? You have to stay rooted in your confidence and your belief and that, really that inner intuition that you're going to make it and you're going to do it. So let's review. Shall we Stop doing this shit? Stop trying to convince people who don't share your vision, stop waiting until it's perfect and stop outsourcing your confidence.
Speaker 1:Now I'm going to give you a couple things to start doing instead of those things. Now I'm going to give you a couple things to start doing instead of those things. I already went through the first one. Find someone who's done something similar, ask for 10 minutes, offer something in return if you want to. Most people are more generous than you think, especially if they see your hunger, if they see a version of themselves in you that's powerful. You know they see the person that they were when they were starting out and you can endear yourself to them. Most people, nine times out of ten, are going to give you at least a coffee, maybe even a coffee and some kind of like ongoing mentorship, but you never know until you ask.
Speaker 1:Number two protect your vision like it's sacred because it is. Again, not everyone will get it and they don't have to. You need to move anyway and you don't need a chorus and you're not going to have a chorus. You're going to have one little solo singing voice like ah, and that's okay. Another thing that will happen, that I've actually experienced many times, is when you do share your vision and it's not received. You can feel sort of the energy just drain and your confidence just drains. Then all of a sudden, you're like, yeah, you're right, like this is really stupid, so it's a very powerful thing. So protect it like it's sacred because it is.
Speaker 1:Number three take one baby step right now, today, especially for the person that we just talked about, who loves to put the spreadsheet together, like it gives you this sense of satisfaction and your documents and all these things. Maybe you send a DM to a person on the list that we talked about, on your short list. Maybe you buy a domain, you know, go to GoDaddycom, buy the damn thing, post an idea, maybe put something out there and say you know, if you have a business you're trying to start let's say it's fitness and you're like, hey, what's out there? Does anybody want to do strength training or whatever it is Like? You have to start testing the market, and when you hear like testing the market, it sounds so official. Do you know how simple testing the market could be? It can be a freaking Instagram poll, you know, on something. You're trying to figure out what the people who follow you like that pertains to. Whatever it is you're trying to build Journaling the business name, trying to figure out the branding. That's kind of a fun thing to do. Motion breeds momentum, so motion breeds motion, and so until you start that action, you're just gonna be sitting there overanalyzing the shit out of stuff.
Speaker 1:Number four audit your inputs. I love this one, and this I mean. All of these transcend outside of business, into life too, but this one I love because of all the conversation today around social media. Is it good or bad? You know? Here's the question. Who are you following? Who are you listening to? Feeding your fire with stories, voices and energy that stretch you and not shrink you? I find it interesting when people are always like. You know, instagram and TikTok. Social media is terrible. It's the worst thing in the world that's ever happened. And then you look at your For you page and you've got all this negative wild shit on there. But that's a mirror. This negative wild shit on there, but that's a mirror. Your For you page, especially on the talk man. The talks algorithm is so on point and it's basically just a mirror for what you are searching for or what you're watching.
Speaker 1:So if I'm trying to use social media for good, I'm searching like-minded businesses that I want to build. I'm searching competitors of the business I want to build. I'm searching motivational speakers that resonate with what I'm trying to do, positive, cheerleading type environment or educational environment that is not only teaching me what's out there, keeping me savvy with what's going on in the market that I'm trying to enter, who are the players in the market I'm trying to enter and what positive stuff's going on in the world. So before you start, you know talking about how terrible social media is. Maybe you need to figure out you know, I don't know what's going on inside of you that's reflecting that Number five.
Speaker 1:This is also one of my favorites visualizing the version of you on the other side of the leap. So, going back to what I just said in the beginning about the current state of you versus the ideal state of you. That person's waiting and they've got receipts. Okay, you just have to go meet them. Like it's out there, it's written in the stars for you. All you have to do is take action. Okay, that's a lot to. That's a lot to digest.
Speaker 1:Today, my plan is to be doing more of these quick hitter, very dialed in conversations around business branding and how to really get you off your ass and into the stratosphere, for those of you who are interested. So we are going to be doing an immersion at the beginning of fall, so end of summer, beginning of fall. I'm going to be taking probably like five five-ish people, five to seven people. We're going to be doing like a two to three day immersion. So it's going to be all about building branding, promoting yourself, figuring out how, in a world where AI is completely taken over the spot, how are we going to stand out now in a world where you know it's going to be so much easier in theory to start a business, or quicker, because everybody's on the chat, gpt and using AI and everything's changing?
Speaker 1:I would say that there's never a more important time in the world to dial into your authenticity, to your purpose, to why you're doing the things that you're doing, to your purpose, to why you're doing the things that you're doing. So if you can really dig deep into the fingerprint, this unique fingerprint that is you, that nobody else can, no one else can emulate you. If you can bring that up effectively and then leverage AI, you're going to have such a powerful combination that no one's going to stop you. So we are going to have a wait list shortly, kate, right, wait list coming shortly. There'll be an application process, more details to come, but if you know me, I like to put together a really good experience. So there'll be a lot of education, a lot of on-the-job training, a lot of fun, just a magnetic networking experience too, to meet people, like-minded people, who are doing the same thing that you're doing.
Speaker 1:So if you're interested, you want to hear more. You can DM me If you have any questions or if this evoked anything inside of you. Please send me a DM, send me an email at kerry, at the kerrycrossshowcom. If you like what you're hearing, just go rate the show, send it to a friend and we'll be back for more. And until next time, keep moving, baby.
