Feeling Off Lately? Let’s Do a Life + Biz Audit Together
If you caught last week’s solocast, you already know—we’re in the season of building. And this week, we’re taking things one step further.
Think of this episode as Part Two: a deeper dive into the mindset work behind the business and brand consulting offer I’ve quietly been building behind the scenes. It’s not quite ready for a full reveal—but I wanted to bring you along for the journey.
We’re talking about the two most important audits you can do right now:
→ The Internal Audit: habits, lies, and the current version of you
→ The External Audit: energy, access, and the people closest to you
If you’ve been feeling stuck, unmotivated, or low-key out of alignment—this episode is your sign to slow down and reassess. Not with shame. Not with pressure. Just truth.
✨ What version of YOU is calling the shots right now?
✨ Who’s getting your energy—and do they deserve it?
✨ What one move have you been avoiding that would instantly create alignment?
This episode is both a pep talk and a practice—and it’s the same work we’ll be doing this fall inside a 3-day business mindset immersion I’m so close to launching (more on that soon 😉).
If this message hits? Leave a comment, send a DM, or share your audit with me. I’d love to hear what’s coming up for you.

Speaker 1:Don't say I've never done anything for you, hello friends, hello friends. So it's interesting, as we continue to unveil sort of this business mindset consulting thing that we're building here, the certain terms and concepts that I have been writing and stewing on and creating are starting to come to life and people are now asking me questions and it's funny. It's like, ok, can we talk a little bit more about like the CV versus the IV? And I'm like, oh my gosh, we're creating a world of acronyms. And anyone who knows me and my life in corporate America and AT&T I love a good acronym, not only because I just do, but it like saves time. So let's talk today a little bit about CV versus IV, which is the current version of you versus the ideal version of you.
Speaker 1:If you're someone who is just ideating right now or thinking, you know, I've kind of outgrown, whether it's my life or just what I'm doing from a business perspective and I would like to, you know you fantasize about jumping up and jumping out, popping out and doing something new. There's so many different ways to go about it. Most people just start at the business, the point of where they want to start a business. Right, well, I want to. You know, go get a domain name or I'll get an LLC. All that's important and all that's great. But not many people take a step back to really evaluate themselves and really take a oh, I'm going to go start a business.
Speaker 1:Well, the odds of that business translating in some way, shape or form, into being a hot mess are probably pretty high. If you go into it with a very strong, organized, thoughtful approach, well then you know you can do the rest. You can do the math on that approach. Well then you know you can do the rest, that you can do the math on that. So what I have spent a lot of time thinking about and this is me like thinking about it for myself, but also knowing that once I sort of create this recipe, then I can share it with all of you and so I'm very, very, very excited right now that I'm at the point I'm at this stage in the game of building my business, where I can actually start to articulate and share things with you that I have been creating on your behalf.
Speaker 1:So, without further ado, let's talk about the current version of you, my friend out there, and how far, how we can get you closer to being like the ideal version of you. We have to get radically honest about who you are right now, and that's really hard to do because nobody wants to take a step back and go oh man, this life of mine, man, a couple of genes aren't fitting quite the way they were before. Like, things are feeling a little snug, I'm feeling a little uncomfy, some things feel off and it's just easier to sort of rationalize that or avoid it. And so what I'm asking you to do is to not avoid it, not rationalize it, and just let's just take inventory. It doesn't mean you have to do anything right now, it doesn't mean you have to do anything at all.
Speaker 1:But knowledge is power and I think, before you embark on any you know sort of business venture, why not do this really important, not only self-evaluation, but we also are going to look at, you know, the people who are the closest to you in your life, because, man, they can either be an elixir or they can be a poison. Let's just make sure that we do our best to eliminate the toxicity where we can. And you know, a lot of times the toxicity guys I know we want to use that word, we want to look outside and we want to say, oh, they're toxic, this person's toxic. Well, a lot of toxicity comes from you. You know you can remove people from your life. You can't remove yourself.
Speaker 1:So I think the most important thing is really making sure that what's going on between those two ears is healthy, and then, of course, like it's tied to your inner circle, right. So the way you do one thing is the way you do everything. Blah, blah, blah. So you know, if you're sitting in that stuck space wondering why you're not seeing or feeling the way you want to feel, not making moves, not feeling lit up anymore, this is your episode with. Send it to them, listen to it together, but this is definitely your invitation to either do the audit or to start dipping your toe in and thinking about at least knowing that this is potential. Okay. So what I want you to do is I want you to ask yourself and be very, very honest with yourself, and maybe you want to get a piece of paper out or a journal and nobody else has got to know, it's just me and you. No one's got to know. I want you to answer some questions for yourself.
Speaker 1:So, what habits are running your life right now? We've all been there A lot of times. We start doing things, whether it's you know, you know, look, think of a pie chart. Your life is a pie chart. There's only so much time and energy in the day. And like, if you think about these habits, like, if you're being honest, put that, plug that in and see, like, how much time and energy is that taking from my life? Is it excessive calorie counting? Is it alcohol? Is it shopping? Is it doom scrolling? You know we've all got them. So what are the habits that you feel like you sort of lost control of? Or maybe you do want to harness in a little bit and maybe not do so much. So, like you know, if you got that visual pie chart, what, what's on there? That is like really flashing the neon light, uh, you know. And another thing too, like a habit that you may not even be thinking about would be over committing. Another habit would be shrinking to make people comfortable. I'm sure that there's a lot of people that do that, and if it helps, you actually draw a little pie chart. Draw a pie chart it's a hundred percent pie chart and then give each of your habits a percentage that you think is in line with what's going on with your daily life.
Speaker 1:Okay, number two what lies am I telling myself? Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies. We do it all the time, but a lot of us don't want to admit it. Let me give you some examples. I'm too busy, I'm not ready, it's not the right time. You know it's been not the right time for three years, for some of you for four years, or you know. Maybe you don't like the word lie, so maybe you say what story? What story are you telling yourself that's keeping you from moving forward, from breaking through, from becoming that more ideal version of who you are?
Speaker 1:All right, what do I avoid facing or feeling? Is it fear of failure, rejection or the grief of realizing you've outgrown the life you've built? Most people I would say 99.9% of the human population we fear rejection, we fear failure. It's horrible feeling. Nobody wants to be rejected, nobody wants to feel failure. That stuff doesn't feel great in the moment, but you just can't allow that to hold you back. It's like anything else, like you start feeling it over and over again. You're like, okay, it's not that bad, keep moving forward. It's like a rite of passage. You have to go through those things to get where you want to go. I'm just the messenger. I did not design the world that way, but it's just the way it is and you know all of these are uncomfortable. But you got to get clarity around this stuff because you can't. You can't make movement or change what you don't acknowledge.
Speaker 1:So quick overview what habits are running your life right now? What lies or stories are you telling yourself? And then what do you avoid feeling or facing? You know, take a minute over the next week, couple weeks, maybe month. Take a minute over the next week, couple weeks, maybe month. That's sort of the high level architecture for how I want you to start with this internal audit of self and then let me know what comes up. I would love nothing more than to get some messages from you and we can start kind of chatting about it. I would love to hear what comes up for you in that audit. And there's so much more to the audit. This is just me getting you kind of a little nibble of what's going on over here in terms of this whole program.
Speaker 1:Let's go into part two, which is the external audit. It's the world around you and you know your environment is shaping your reality. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the people who are closest to you have an incredible amount of influence on what happens with you in your life. I mean, think about that. So let's start with this, with the external audit. Who gets the most access to you right now.
Speaker 1:And I want you to get another little piece of paper out, nothing fancy, and I want you to write down the top people who have the most access to you. And I'm going to ask you another question Do they deserve it? Do they deserve to have the access to you that they have today? And that's a tough question. It's like, oh, that one feels a little weird. I'm going to take it one step further. Another exercise that we do when we go into this comprehensive sort of deep dive of this current version and ideal version. So you've written down the names or the titles of these people. So let's say, you have on there dad, you have brother, your friend Kara, whoever what I want you to do by their name, cross, put a little line right in the middle of the name dad, if it's dad, whatever the name is and then, instead of the title, I want you to list the three feelings or things that you think of or that come up when you think of that relationship. How does that relationship make you feel? How does that person make you feel? Write those three adjectives and cross the name out and put the three feelings. And man is that powerful?

That's where Headspace by Mia Santiago comes in. Treat yourself or someone who deserves it to a luxurious scalp treatment and a killer, blowout or cut. Because great hair days shouldn't be rare.
Speaker 1:Sometimes in life it's like, okay, we're given certain people around us, they've just, they just have access with proximity and you don't really on like, is that relationship really healthy? How are they making me feel? How is this affecting the whole of how I move in the world? And so I'm not trying to say, you know, go fire everybody in your life tomorrow, but what I am trying to say is the energy and the effort and the time that you pour into things and the energy that's poured back into you, that all matters so much in terms of how you move through the world.
Speaker 1:Once you've done this exercise and you sit with it for a minute, I want you to then look at those people, look at those feelings and if it's a positive relationship, I want you to then look at those people, look at those feelings and if it's a positive relationship, I want you to put a plus sign above, like, let's say, it's dad with a three adjectives, put a plus sign up there. If it's negative, put a negative and then count up how many positives and how many negatives do you have there with the people who have access to you and you may have to make some tough decisions. Do you have people who just people who have access to you, and you may have to make some tough decisions? Do you have people who just aren't really happy for you? Does it feel like they're kind of always there in a crisis, but then the minute that something goes well, it's kind of like you're feeling a whole different energy? Do you have people who are constantly just dumping all over you? Do you have people who, anytime you feel like you want to share something or you feel that dopamine or that excitement, it's like somebody's kind of squashing it. Man, that's your tapestry, that is your energetic tapestry that is so important.
Speaker 1:And and while that exercise is a little uncomfy and it can be painful and maybe show you some realizations, I just you got to do it because if you want, it's hard enough, you know. If you want it's hard enough, you know life, business, all this stuff is hard enough when you are, when you are firing on all cylinders. So if you're not firing on all cylinders and there's things you can do and maybe some adjustments you can make, you owe that. You owe that to yourself and to this ideal version of you to to make those tweaks and changes and be really honest about you know what's swirling around. That space and energy that's close to you is precious man. That is like valuable, valuable real estate. I hope you take that one seriously and do that for yourself, either today or this week or this month.
Speaker 1:Okay, here's another one. What do you consume on a daily basis? So garbage in, garbage out, right. So what are you watching, scrolling, listening to? If your feed is draining you and I said this in my last solo cast you know it's yeah, unfollow.
Speaker 1:But I think bigger picture is, these algorithms are a reflection of you. They're a reflection of your interests. They're a reflection of what you're putting out. So maybe you should start searching and looking for positive things and things that are more business driven or inspirational driven, or things that can move the needle, because I'll tell you, like anything in life, social media is good and social media is bad. It's like, where do you sit on that continuum? I can say that about a million things that can be good or bad depending on how I'm consuming them. And so, if I'm choosing to be positive and to look for positive things and to look for educational material, there's never a better spot than social media if you sort of have the right algorithm and the right for you page, if you sort of have the right algorithm and the right for you page. So you got to kind of take a little hard look at yourself there, as opposed to blaming social media and just putting this broad stroke that social media is bad, okay.
Speaker 1:And then, third, are your systems that you have in place supporting the life that you say you want, okay. So what does that mean, carrie? It means your calendar, your morning routine, or lack thereof, your finances, your digital life. Is your structure, building you or burying you there? These are all really great, important components of building this external environment that's going to support your ideal version of you, but it's it never ceases to amaze me and this is, for me, like I'm talking to myself more than I'm talking to anybody else here.
Speaker 1:Aren't you fascinated with how we move through the business world? So you join a company. There's all these systems, everything's dialed in, and then you learn the mission, you learn their values, you march to the specific drum of the culture and the brand and next thing you know everybody's just kind of humming right. There are systems and processes and there is a method to the madness there that you can feel. But then when we go to grow like, build and grow our family, build a home, build a life with human beings that we've created, we just kind of wing it Like what systems are we putting in place for our most important assets, which are our legacy, our family? What are we doing to make sure that we're efficient, that we're thoughtful, that we're doing things the way that are going to make our ideal version proud?
Speaker 1:So let's go back to just a quick recap of the external audit high level. Who gets the most access to you right now and do they deserve it? What do you consume on a daily basis and are your systems supporting the life you say you want? I just gave you a lot of homework and it's very, very valuable and relevant, and I hope some people take me up on this, because I don't think I know that just from me doing some of these things myself. I have seen tremendous growth, I have felt an incredible sense of peace and you know what else I've learned. I have found this energetic sort of space or silence and it's like wow, hold on a minute, I can fill this with like other things that matter, right.
Speaker 1:So like building this new business and taking care of my family in a different way and making sure that everything's in line for me, that I am marching to a drum that I am proud of and I'm going to be proud of in the future. This stuff pays off big time. I'm doing it, I've done it for the last I mean solid two years I've been testing this and working on this and I'm so excited I'm so excited that I'm actually verbalizing some of this stuff that maybe you know somebody can pick up out there and pick up the ball and go and the magic is like you're never done auditing. I think, once you realize that this audit exists, what my hope for you and my hope for me is that it's constantly live and fluid. So I know that I'm always internally auditing myself and going back to shaping those habits, shaping those systems, making sure that my relationships are positive.
Speaker 1:It's not like you're just going to do this audit like a check the box thing and move on. This kind of becomes a part of your internal system that you're always kind of drawing back to to make sure, okay, yep, we're good Like we're, we're still on point. Same thing for the external, the external audit, and then you can kind of keep, you can continue to engineer things Once this becomes sort of a part of your makeup and your mentality. It's like you know, what would my ideal version of me do differently this week? What's one decision, one boundary, one move I've been avoiding that would immediately create alignment? You know, ask yourself you're driving, you're running, you're walking, whatever, what's one decision, one boundary, one move I've been avoiding that would immediately create alignment. And then you know what's the cost of staying the same, I don't know, sit with some of these questions and maybe, like this week, when you would normally tune out and listen to music or listen to a podcast, or, you know, talk to somebody during a workout class, maybe just get quiet and just ask these questions, because convincing ourselves or telling ourselves the truth sometimes it's, it takes a while.
Speaker 1:It's kind of like tipping over something really heavy, right you? You start to try to tip it and it won't, because it's just so there and it's so heavy and you kind of have to keep going at it and keep getting after it until it builds momentum. So maybe these are some questions that have been lurking for a while, that like you're getting ready to expose and be like you know what. No, no, this isn't an alignment and I do need to put up boundaries. And why are boundaries? Why are boundaries negative? They're not. They're the most beautiful thing, the most beautiful thing you can possibly have and create for yourself and the ones you love. Period, end of story.
Speaker 1:You know you don't become your next level self with like a vision board. I mean, yeah, okay, like I'm not saying that can't be a part of it, but you do it with a series of uncomfortable, powerful decisions that say like I refuse to live on the wrong side of my potential. And when you boil it down like that, live on the wrong side of my potential. And when you boil it down like that, you know I refuse to live on the wrong side of my potential. Then you know, if that becomes sort of your guidepost and you're non-negotiable, then you got to start reverse engineering stuff and you really need to dial into these audits and take them seriously because they work. So here's your challenge.
Speaker 1:Okay, by the end of today or this week or this month, I want you to do both audits, internal and external, write them down, maybe send me a screenshot. I would love that. I would love to look at your audits. I would love to kind of go back and forth with you and help you kind of refine them. Say the hard truths, say the things you've been sort of holding back or maybe repressing or whatever. And then I want you to do one thing either today, this week, this month that your ideal version of you would do immediately. Like what would they look at? They'd be like okay, we're going to do this one thing, we have to do it, and I want you to do it. I mean, that's how it starts, right. I also like to think too. It's like that ideal version of you is waiting. It's like waiting for you to get in the game and get aligned and like get the party started. And if this message hit you like a ton of bricks, you know if you're nodding and thinking, damn, this is me, you know then I want you to know.
Speaker 1:Something like this is exactly the kind of work we're doing inside this three-day immersion that we're putting on this fall, and I'm so excited it's going to be three days of intensive business mindset, like on-the-job training, you know it's. It's the perfect, perfect thing for someone who has that special something and it's bubbling over and they just can't figure out how to get it out. And then, once they get it out, what to do with it. I mean that's the best way that I can put it. We're not just talking about change, we're engineering change. You know, we're doing the deep, unfiltered work and really looking at you as an individual and what you bring to the table and how to help you get this idea not only on the rails but get momentum behind it and just get moving forward so you can just start doing the damn thing.
Speaker 1:We're designing a business and a life that actually fits who you are and who you want to be. I mean that's you know, how can you not? How can you not? So if this resonates with you at all and you want to know more or you want to be, I mean that's you know, how can you not? How can you not? So if this resonates with you at all and you want to know more or you want to send me your audit, or you want to talk about this. You want to set up a 15-minute Calendly? I've got a schedule on my Instagram. You can just hit link in bio. I've got some available times where you can just jump on a 15-minute call with me. Send me a DM or email me at kerry, at thekerrycroftshowcom, and we'll just go into it more. So I hope this helps.
Speaker 1:I really hope that some of you out there will pick up a pen and a piece of paper and do the damn thing. And until next time, keep moving, baby. And if you're still listening, thank you. We have a special little nugget for you, because you're a loyal listener and you wait till the very, very end. So we have a little tough love, love letter from our best friend. I call him Chet, chet Gibbett, and I would really like to read this to you because I think somebody out there probably needs to hear it.
Speaker 1:And here it goes. Dear future CEO of a business you still haven't started, hi, it's me, the voice in your head you keep trying to ignore. But make no mistake, I see you. You got notebooks full of million dollar ideas, podcast drafts that would go viral, a Canva account that's more active than your actual bank account and yet you're out here rearranging your spice rack, calling it preparation. Babe, you don't need another iced latte and a manifestation playlist. You need to move.
Speaker 1:You keep telling everyone you're just waiting for the right time. Okay, beyonce, are you launching a world tour or are you just scared someone from high school will see you trying? Your potential is sick of you treating it like a side chick. It wants commitment because the ideal version of you. She's not overthinking her bio for three weeks. She's not asking her group chat if they think it's a good idea. She's building, posting, owning, charging. So stop sleeping on yourself. Stop asking the wrong people for permission and, for the love of all things holy, stop rearranging your damn to-do list and pretending it's progress. This isn't tough love. This is real love and it's time. Sincerely, your higher self, also me, chat GPT, because somebody had to say it, oh, chat.
